Online Tutoring

Standard Tutoring Sessions:

These meetings can be booked individually for K-8 students or as add-ons to other meeting types for all students. They are only available online and are an ideal options for driven students who have questions about a particular concept or assignment (i.e. student-led material reviews), or who need someone to touch base with to help them set their goals and plan their time effectively (i.e. performance skills assessment). Students/Parents are encouraged to submit assignments to work on or review for these sessions at least 24 hours in advance. If no material is submitted in advance, the tutor will find practice material at the beginning of the session.

These meetings are 1-on-1 only.
Online Customized Lessons:

This option is ideal for students that want more individualized attention, more flexibility with scheduling meetings, and are comfortable with learning online. These lessons are typically recurring and tutor-led. Parents/Students are encouraged to submit assignments to work on/review during sessions, but it is not required. Tutors will prepare and tailor their lessons based on their observations of a student’s, or students’, skills in any given subject.

In-Person Tutoring

We currently offer in-person tutoring at the Hercules Library** in Hercules, CA and the San Pedro Library** in San Antonio, TX.

On-Location/At-Home Tutoring: If you’d prefer to meet at your home, or a public building or park close to you, just state that location on your Tutoring Request Form, and we will get back to you with an exact rate and potential schedule. **This rate may apply to meetings in other public locations in Hercules/Pinole or San Antonio (ex: Pinole library or select nearby schools that allow on-campus tutoring). Apart from in-person tutoring at the specified locations, it is up to the discretion of the tutor to determine whether other locations will be considered in-person or on-location.

Example 50-minute lesson breakdown:

10 minutes- reviewing a long-term skill (ex. multiplication skills for Math tutoring or vocabulary words for English tutoring)
10-20 minutes- reviewing what we did the previous week
20-30 minutes- covering and practicing a new skill/topic

Meeting time might also include going over missed homework/quiz/test problems, reviewing written work, hands-on activities, reading, topic discussions, test preparation, or any other learning tactic that will serve to further the student’s knowledge and performance.
